Start with the selected purchase base
One of each dated reference totals £123.40: Grace £15.40, Ted Baker £49 and JAEGER £59. That total is a comparison ledger, not an accepted combined order or an assurance that the stock is available. Enter actual selected quantities and current prices if the purchase changes. A reduction already included in a ticket should not be deducted again as another credit.
A full credit can reach exactly zero
A confirmed merchandise-only credit of £123.40 against a £123.40 merchandise base leaves £0 merchandise payable. If actual delivery is £4.99 and an actual additional charge is £1.25 in an illustrative test, those charges still total £6.24. The test amounts are not claimed retailer fees. A merchandise credit must not silently erase delivery or repeat tax already included in the ticket.
One penny over is different
A £123.41 credit against that base is rejected as unresolved rather than generating a negative payable balance. The tool also rejects blank prices, negative quantities, exponent notation, fractions of a penny and values beyond its stated limits. Counts must be whole numbers. These rules prevent a misleading total while allowing a legitimate exact full credit to reach zero.
Why integer pence matter
The tool converts supported GBP entries to integer pence before multiplying and subtracting. Meaningful decimal checks include £47.99 ×2 =£95.98 and £0.10 ×3 =£0.30, each of which can be fully credited without a floating-point remainder. Per-unit displays are rounded for reading, while the purchase arithmetic stays in whole pence. The tool does not infer exchange rates or convert advertiser bid currency into retail prices.
Leave unknown charges unknown
Blank shipping, tax or other-charge fields prevent a final total. Enter zero only when the charge is actually confirmed as zero. This is especially important for separate merchant orders and delivery thresholds. The ledger runs locally, does not take payment, reserve goods or send a basket, and cannot establish affiliate approval or the final merchant invoice.
