Keep each seller’s basket separate
M&S’s selected product sources state UK standard delivery £3.99 or free on orders over £75, excluding furniture. Accessorize states standard delivery free for orders over £40, with service conditions. Adding £49 at M&S and £15.40 at Accessorize creates a £64.40 comparison total, but neither seller receives a £64.40 basket. You cannot combine their spending to qualify for either threshold.
Use strict wording at the boundary
Over £75 does not establish free standard delivery for a basket exactly £75. Likewise, over £40 should not be silently changed to £40 or more. The source context and actual checkout must resolve boundaries, exclusions and any effect of discounts. The local tool deliberately asks for actual delivery charges rather than automatically applying a simplified threshold.
Avoid buying an unwanted extra
Suppose only a £49 scarf is wanted at M&S. Adding unnecessary products just to exceed a delivery threshold can cost more than the displayed £3.99 delivery. Compare the actual final totals and the usefulness of the additional purchase. This does not require assuming that the free-delivery threshold is the only factor; collection availability and the buyer’s own journey cost may change the practical choice.
Collection is a different option
The selected M&S body says store collection is free for fashion, home and beauty orders. Accessorize lists standard Click & Collect as free. These are source options, not confirmation that a specific store or time slot can serve the selected order. Check the current collection location, readiness notification and terms rather than treating collection as an immediate handover.
Enter what the order actually charges
In the purchase ledger, enter confirmed shipping, additional tax and other charges, including explicit zeros. A blank remains unknown and prevents a final total. UK consumer tickets are not a reason to add VAT a second time; use the actual invoice treatment. The tool neither places an order nor verifies the seller’s checkout or delivery entitlement.
